Have you attempted, or is it possible, to install a gun safe in a unit? Like a 6, 8, or 10-long gun setup. 56 high x 22 wide x 20 deep, Dry weight 328.

  Yes, we have incorporated gun cabinets into builds before. Our design team would need to review the safe dimensions, 328 lb. dry weight, and intended location to determine how it could be integrated within the camp’s dimensional and structural constraints.

Do you recommend a dually for this or would a regular 1 ton be just fine?

  Schrauth weighs 13,600 lb before it’s loaded for travel. A properly equipped single rear wheel 1-ton may work, but we’d need to check the specific truck’s towing, payload, rear axle, and hitch ratings against the camp’s loaded weight and tongue weight. A dually gives you more capacity and stability, so it may be the better choice for a build this size.

Have you ever designed a camp with the bedroom in the back and a wall to separate the remaining living space?

  Hi Deb! We haven’t built a camp with that configuration yet, but putting the bedroom in the back with a wall separating it from the rest of the living space wouldn’t be difficult. We’d be happy to discuss a layout like that with you!

The biggest problem I see with this design is wind resistance. The flat face of the front has got to have a big effect on fuel mileage, and the interior is designed like a bus when it comes to walking space. If this had the look of a travel trailer, I would be interested. I love the interior layout with the solid wood cabinets and the quality build, but with the cost of fuel, towing this beast would be expensive.

  Our design is rooted in the tradition and heritage of sheep camps and range wagons. That distinctive shape is part of what makes a Peak camp a Peak camp, and it appeals to people who appreciate that history and style.
  
  We’ve continued that tradition while focusing on durable construction, quality materials, four-season comfort, and long-term serviceability. Our goal is to build a camp that can serve its owners for decades.
  
  We understand your concern about towing costs. Fuel mileage varies with the truck and traveling conditions, but it hasn’t been a complaint we’ve heard from our owners.
  
  The Schrauth’s layout was designed around its owners’ preferences, so the size and walking space can be different in another custom build.
  
  It’s a particular style for a particular customer, and we understand it won’t be everyone’s preference. For those drawn to the sheep-camp heritage, preserving that character matters alongside the comfort and craftsmanship inside.
